On Budget's announcement on mental health programme, NIMHANS director says 10.2% of population has diagnosable mental health issue
Following FM's announcement of launching a tele mental health programme in Union Budget 2022, NIMHANS director Dr Pratima Murthy told ANI that according to by the institute, “10.2% of population has diagnosable mental health or substance use disorder.” The Centre has announced that in the mental health programme there will be 23 health centres of excellence with NIMHANS being the nodal one, while IIIT-Bangalore will provide technical support.
