West Indies have won the toss and chosen to bat first. Harmanpreet Kaur later says she would have liked to bat first, regardless of the conditions. 

West Indies simply cannot afford to lose but they face an Indian team whose confidence will be sky high from the way they swatted Pakistan aside in their first match. Pakistan are playing Ireland in the other game that starts after this one. England have a rest day. They have made the perfect start to the match, using the extra game they have compared to others to take a strong lead in the race for the knockouts. 

It hasn't been smooth sailing for the West Indies of late. They are on a losing streak of five games at the moment. They had lost all of their matches in the tri series with India and South Africa and lost their first match of the tournament to England. 

India have won three and lost one of the last five T20I games they have played, with one of those matches against South Africa being abandoned. It was South Africa who were the only team to beat them in this period as well.

Deepti Sharma was influential in January's two tri-series meetings between the sides. Sharma followed up figures of two for 29 by taking three for 11 as India triumphed by 56 runs and eight wickets respectively, leaving West Indies looking to upset the form book as they seek a first win of the competition. "We know where we fell short, so it is just for us to go there and turn up on the day. India will be coming hard and they are more aggressive in their latter part of their innings, so it is just for us to control the game for as long as possible, especially in the last five because we know they are going to come hard," said wicketkeeper Rashada Williams.

India are up against England in their next match. That will be on Saturday. Then, they play their final group stage match against Ireland on Monday. 

The Indian vice-captain had sat out the game against Pakistan with a finger injury but bowling coach Troy Cooley has said that she could be making a return in the match against the West Indies. "I think from today, it'll obviously be assessed after today, but she did everything she was needed to be done today. And I think, yeah, from us, we look at how she pulls up. But we're pretty confident that she got through the session today and did everything she needed to do," he had said yesterday.

New Zealand's T20 World Cup campaign was left in tatters after their extraordinary 65-run capitulation to South Africa, with their net run rate now being a paltry -4.050 while being on no points after playing two matches. Their captain Sophie Devine could not make too much efforts to be diplomatic in the press conference after the match, stating frankly that the defeat was an embarrasment and also wondering if the timing of the WPL auction, a day before the match, was ideal or not. She also questioned New Zealand's domestic structure and if it is helping them put up a competitive team in international cricket while fighting away tears at one point. India-Pakistan matches seldom turn out to be good contests in the women's game. India tend to be far too strong for Pakistan to compete against. That wasn't really the case on Sunday, however, with Pakistan standing a chance of defending a target of 150 about 15 overs into the Indian innings. However, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh then ended any such possibilities with an unbeaten 58 run stand that came in just 33 balls for the fourth wicket. 

England are the only team thus far to have played two matches and they have won both, thus sitting pretty at the top with four points. India are second, having played one and won one. They could pip England to the top spot if they have a big win today - England's net run rate is 2.497 while India's is 0.497. Pakistan, West Indies and Ireland fill up the rest of the spots having all lost their first games. Pakistan are third with an NRR of -0.497, Ireland fourth with -2.215 and West Indies fifth with -2.767.
