Kerala Election Results 2021 LIVE Updates: The ruling Communist Party of India (M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) is set to retain power in Kerala winning 98 out of the 140 seats in the assembly. Bucking the four-decade-old electoral trend of the state that usually votes against the incumbent government, Kerala voted for the Left parties once again with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the helm. Various pre-poll and post-poll surveys had predicted victory for the ruling alliance. Kerala CM Vijayan thanked the people of the state, saying, "Kerala has given a verdict in favor of the LDF. But this is not the time to celebrate with great joy as Covid-19 continues to spread in the state. This is the time to continue the fight against Covid-19."

The voting for the assembly election was held on April 6. As many as 2.74 crore voters exercised their franchise to decide the fate of 957 candidates.
