Mundka fire brought under control, says official
The fire has been brought under control. No new body has been recovered (After 27 bodies), said Satpal Bhardwaj, divisional officer, fire department.
Death toll rises to 27, NDRF team on site
Death toll rose to 27 in the fire tragedy in west Delhi's Mundka, according to Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain. A team from the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) has reached the location.
Jogi Ram Jain, the standing committee chairman of the north MCD, informed that the commissioner and senior officials of the civic body were at the site of fire accident and if any municipal official's fault is found in the inquiry strict action will be taken.
"As per preliminary information, the four-storey building was located on the main Rohtak road and it was a commercial property not an industrial property. Short circuit is being said to be the cause of fire. As per preliminary information, the building did not have fire NOC. We have initiated an inquiry and if any municipal official is found to be at fault strict action will be taken. We should wait for the detailed inquiry report," he said.
