Breaking HIGHLIGHTS: Telangana reports 46 new Covid-19 cases, 32 recoveries

During the past one month, Kerala has seen 82 cases of the tomato flu- a rare viral disease, which causes red-coloured rashes, skin irritation and dehydration. 

Telangana on Wednesday reported 46 new Covid-19 cases and 32 more recoveries, which pushed the total count of cases and recoveries to 7,92,435 and 7,87,933 respectively, according to the health department's bulletin. 

The highest number of fresh cases were seen from Hyderabad at 30.

Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann said on Wednesday that action would be taken against people who were illegally occupying government or panchayat land. 

"I appeal to those who have illegally occupied government or panchayat land, even if they are politicians, officials or influential people, to leave the illegal possession by May 31," Mann tweeted. 

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday arrested Jharkhand mining secretary Pooja Singhal in connection with an alleged money laundering case, news agency PTI reported. 

The arrest comes hours after Singhal appeared before the ED with the money-laundering probe linked to alleged embezzlement of MGNREGA funds and other charges.

A fire broke out at a chemical factory in the in Pithampur town of Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. 

“Fire broke out in sector-2. Fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire. 1 person was injured and was sent to Indore for further treatment,” Tarunendra Singh Baghel, CSP, Pithampur, told news agency ANI. 

An enroachment drive is being carried out in Delhi's Lodhi Colony and Mehar Chand market area, news agency ANI reported on Wednesday. 

"We've made a complete plan, our aim is to dedicate roads to public that are blocked due to encroachments, where school buses, ambulances and fire brigade vehicles cannot reach," Rajpal, Chairman, Central Zone SDMC told the news agency.

A 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death in the Kotwali Police Station area of Bhilwara on Tuesday night, news agency ANI quoted police. In the wake of tensions in the area, the internet services have been suspended till 6am on Thursday, reports ANI. 

An Al-Jazeera journalist was shot and killed while covering an Israeli raid in the occupied West Bank town of Jenin early Wednesday, the Palestinian health ministry said.

It said Shireen Abu Akleh, a well-known Palestinian reporter for the broadcaster's Arabic language channel, was shot and died soon afterward. Another Palestinian journalist working for the Jerusalem-based Al-Quds newspaper was wounded but in stable condition.

The health ministry said the reporters were hit by Israeli fire. The military did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Andhra Pradesh is bracing up for cyclone Asani as it is likely to reach the Andhra coast on Wednesday morning. Rains lashed parts of the Kakinada district and rough sea conditions are being witnessed in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. While a “red” warning has been issued for the Andhra Pradesh coast and local authorities have been alerted to be prepared to take action to prevent disasters associated with the cyclone, the cyclone has affected temperatures in various states. An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 jolted 87 km NW of San Antonio de los Cobres, Argentina at 23:06:28 GMT on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicentre, with a depth of 235.0 km, was initially determined to be at 23.621 degrees south latitude and 66.884 degrees west longitude.
