Covid-19 highlights: Chhattisgarh logs 15,084 new cases, 215 deaths

Tamil Nadu on Monday reported 15,684 new coronavirus disease cases and 94 fatalities, taking the infection count and toll to 10,97,672 and 13,651, according to the state health department, reported PTI.

Punjab reported 6,318 new Covid-19 cases, 98 fatalities and 4,438 discharges in the last 24 hours; case tally at 3,45,366.

Rajasthan reported 16,438 fresh Covid-19 cases, 6,416 recoveries, and 84 deaths in the last 24 hours on Monday.

Goa reported 2,321 fresh Covid-19 cases, 712 recoveries, and 38 deaths in the last 24 hours.

India has asked the European Union to send medical oxygen and antiviral drug Remdesivir to fight a hike in Covid-19 cases, Reuters quoted an EU official as saying. The official said the aid would be made available soon.

The Union health ministry said that 141,911,223 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered so far under India's vaccination drive.

Telangana reported 6,551 new Covid-19 cases and 43 deaths as the state's tally reached 401,783 and the death toll reached 2,042, reports ANI.

With 22 new Covid-19 cases, Mizoram's cases tally reached 5,410, according to an official, reports PTI.

Total recoveries in India reached 14,304,382 patients, accounting for 82.62 per cent of overall cases, and the active caseload climbed to 2,813,658, which is 16.25 per cent of the overall cases.

India reported 352,991 new Covid-19 cases and 2,812 fatalities as the country's tally reached 17,313,163 and death toll rose to 195,123, data from the Union health ministry showed.

The High Court of Uttarakhand will remain closed till May 2 due to the rising Covid-19 cases and from May 3, hearing of cases to be done via video conferencing, reports ANI.

The Indian Council of Medical Research said that 1,402,367 samples were tested on April 25. Also 279,321,177 samples were tested as of the same date.

The Netherlands has suspended all passenger flights arriving from India due to the rising Covid-19 cases, reports ANI.

"A flight ban will take effect for passenger flights from India at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 26... The flight ban will be in place until at least 00:01 a.m. on May 1," a statement from the Dutch Aviation Ministry's said.

UK on Sunday reported 1,712 new Covid-19 cases, its lowest daily tally since September 2020, reports ANI. Cases tally reached 4,404,882.

Also, 11 people died for the disease and the death toll reached 127,428.

With 6,638 new Covid-19 cases and 114 deaths, Chile's cases tally reached 1,169,536 cases and the death toll reached 25,856 according to the country's health ministry, reports ANI.

An Air India flight carrying over 300 oxygen concentrators from the United States, dispatched on Sunday morning, is expected to land in New Delhi at 12pm on Monday, news agency ANI reported.
