It’s known by now that Rani Mukerji is all set to work with Karan Johar again, albeit in a short segment that’s part of a larger release. The actor, who last worked with him on Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), will star in his segment of Bombay Talkies. The other three segments of the film will be directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee.

But now, news is that besides Randeep Hooda, there’s another male actor in Karan’s segment — 24-year-old Saqib Saleem.

The young actor is known for his role in Yash Raj Films’ Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge (2011) and the upcoming Mere Dad Ki Maruti. “It’s true that Saqib has been roped in, but I can’t talk about it right now. As for Rani, I signed her because I needed a very strong actor and she fits the part perfectly,” says Karan, who will start shooting in the first week of February.

Bombay Talkies will release on May 3, and marks 100 years of Indian cinema, from the day Dadasaheb Phalke released Raja Harishchandra, India’s first motion picture.

The four short segments that make up the film will each be 20 minutes long. For his segment, the director will be telling the story of a filmmaker who sells love through cinema; a story very much taken out of his own life.
