Onir is on a mission; says he’ll work with at least a couple of newcomers in every film
Filmmaker Onir says he wants to give new faces a chance in the film industry and is all in praise of Zain Khan Durrani, the actor in his latest film.
Filmmaker Onir is ready to release his first out-and-out love story, and is once again working with a debutant — Zain Khan Durrani. The filmmaker, who launched newcomer Ashish Bisht in his last project Shab (2017), says he is willing to give a chance to new actors.
“For me, it’s a mission for the next few years that I will work with at least a couple of newcomers in every film,” says Onir, whose next film is titled Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz. He explains, “I feel that I was once a newcomer in the industry and I was given a chance. Someone believed in me, and if I don’t do that for others with whatever position I have in the industry, then what have I contributed?”
Onir is all proud of his new discovery, Zain, who plays the role of a radio jockey named Alfaaz, in the film. He says, “When people see the trailer and the film, they will realise that he is a gem for the industry and his work will be cherished.”
Onir, who has directed films such as My Brother...Nikhil (2005), Bas Ek Pal (2006), Sorry Bhai! (2008), and I Am (2011), is not nervous about directing a romantic film. “I have no jitters because I have always worked on relationship stories. My films are always about different forms of love. My Brother...Nikhil was about a sister and brother. So, this film is not completely away from my genre,” he says, adding on a light note, “I am not directing a Golmaal.”
