Khanna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amneet Kondal said that several pictures and videos of Tejinder Singh had gone viral on social networking sites in which he was seen with Amritpal Singh carrying weapons, while he has no arms licence.

“In the videos found from his phones, Tejinder Singh was seen loading weapons and practising hitting the targets with the rifles. In another video, members of the AKF were seen wearing bulletproof jackets with the AKF logo printed on them. WhatsApp group chats were also found on the phone,” the SSP said.

“Tejinder was a drug addict who had joined a de-addiction centre at Amritpal’s native village Jallupur Khera in Amritsar, a few months ago. He was promoted as Amritpal’s gunman and given weapons training,” the SSP added.

The SSP further added that Tejinder has come in contact with Amritpal Singh through Bikramjit Singh Khalsa, whom he had met at Kisan Andolan in Delhi. While scanning two WhatsApp groups – AKF and Amritpal Tiger Force, the police found that instructions were given to group members to get new members inducted.

A resident of Mangewal village of Hathur in Khanna, Tejinder told the police that Amritpal Singh had raised a personal army and assigned them belt numbers such as AKF 56, AKF 3, and AKF 47, according to the seniority. They were on the payroll of Amritpal, who used to pay them salaries every month.

An FIR against Tejinder has been registered under Sections 188 and 336 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at Maloud police station.
