‘Parliament accepted…’: Kejriwal credits Delhiites for air quality improvement

CM Kejriwal said even Parliament has acknowledged that the air quality of the national capital has improved significantly.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday credited the continued efforts of Delhiites for improving air quality in the city. Citing a news report that stated the Economic Survey 2022-23, CM Kejriwal said even Parliament has acknowledged that the air quality of the national capital has improved significantly.

“The Parliament has also accepted that the air quality of Delhi is improving. This is the result of the continuous efforts of the people of Delhi. If we are determined then every difficult task is possible. Similarly, in the coming time, we have to improve the air quality even more,” the chief minister tweeted in Hindi.

The Economic Survey, tabled in Parliament on January 31, stated that the number of 'good', 'satisfactory' and 'moderate' air quality days in the national capital increased from 108 in 2016 to 197 in 2021. Similarly, number of 'poor', 'very poor' and 'severe' days reduced to 168 in 2021 as compared to 246 in 2016.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) earlier said that Delhi's overall air quality has significantly improved since January 30. The pollution control board also lifted curbs on February 1 that were enforced under the Graded Response Action Plane stage II.
