He further said Shah had called him up to enquire about his health.

“Woke up to an early morning call from the honourable home minister Amit Shah to enquire about my health. He also categorically assured me that by the 27th of this month an interlocutor will be announced for our talks regarding the constitutional solution for our indigenous people of Tripura. I hope the home minister will understand the sentiments of the Tiprasa and honour the commitment he has given to me,” Pradyot wrote on his official Twitter account.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had held a meeting with the TIPRA Motha in presence of Shah and other central leaders at Agartala on March 8 after the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP ministers including chief minister Dr Manik Saha.

After the meeting, Debbarma said Shah assured to appoint an interlocutor for the constitutional solution for the welfare of the indigenous people.

Debbarma had earlier said his party will not be a part of the government without getting constitutional solution for the welfare of tribals in Tripura.

Out of total 60 assembly seats, the TIPRA Motha contested in 42 seats and won 13 to become main opposition party in the state replacing the CPM who got 11 seats while Congress got three seats.

The BJP, however, won 32 seats and its ally Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) bagged only one seat.

Two months after formation in 2021 with the core demand of Greater Tipraland, the TIPRA Motha party had swept the 28-seated Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) replacing the Left Front the same year.
