Sourav Ganguly has termed the pitch at the Wanderers for the India vs South Africa third Test in Johannesburg unfit for good batting and wanted ICC to intervene

Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday took to Twitter to slam the Wanderers wicket for the Johannesburg Test, terming the surface as ‘unfair’. The first day of the Test saw India being bowled out for 187, with South Africa ending the day at a score of 6/1.

Following the day’s play, Sourav Ganguly said that batsmen have ‘minimum chance’ playing on the wicket, asking the International Cricket Council (ICC) to intervene on the matter.

“..To play test cricket on this surface is unfair ...saw it in NZ in 2003 ...batsman have minimum chance ..icc should look into it (sic),” he tweeted.

Indian batsmen struggled throughout the opening day at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, with Virat Kohli and Chesteshwar Pujara’s fifties the only silver lining.

With the pitch offering swing and bounce, India’s five-man pace attack is expected to hit back on Thursday.

This is the final Test of the three-match series, with India having lost the series after losing the opening two Tests.
