Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah missed out on ICC Men's Test Team of the Year 2022, with Ben Stokes appointed as captain.

Test cricket saw some brilliant entertainment in 2022, with some players hogging the spotlight due to their dominating performances. The ICC announced its Men's Test Team of the Year 2022, and there were some huge misses and obvious inclusions. With Ben Stokes as installed as captain, there was no place for the likes of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is the solitary Indian in the squad.

Kohli had a poor time in Test cricket in 2022, ending at an average of just 26.5 in 11 innings. Meanwhile, Bumrah hasn't been a regular part of Team India's setup since July last year year due to injuries and fitness issues. He missed the Asia Cup last year due to a back injury and then was also out of the T20 World Cup, after making a comeback in the T20I series vs Australia in September. During the Aussie series, he was out after only two matches.

Khawaja finds himself in the XI after two centuries in the Ashes against England. Meanwhile, he hammered 496 runs at an average of 165.33 in the series win in Pakistan, clobbering two tons. He finished the year with 1080 runs to his name at an average of 67.50. Meanwhile, his opener partner in the XI is West Indies' Kraigg Brathwaite. Australia's Marnus Labuschagne is at no. 3, followed by Babar Azam at no. 4, who finished as ICC's highest run-scorer in all formats last year. Jonny Bairstow finds himself at no. 5 with England captain Ben Stokes in no. 6 as skipper.

Since taking over England's captaincy at the start of the English summer, Stokes has led England to nine victories. In 2022, he smacked 870 runs at an average of 36.25, packed with two tons. The all-rounder also bagged 26 wickets.

Wicketkeeper-batter Pant is at no. 7, and slammed two tons and four half-centuries last year. In 2022, he slammed 680 runs from 12 innings at an average of 61.81 and a strike-rate of 90.90. Other than his 21 sixes in Test cricket in 2022, he produced six stumpings as a wicketkeeper and took 23 catches.

At no. 8, Australia Test captain Pat Cummins leads the pace battery after leading his side to the top of the World Test Championship table in 2022. The bowler took 36 wickets at an average of 21.83 in 10 games, in 2022. Kagiso Rabada has been slotted in at no. 9, followed by Nathan Lyon at no. 10 and James Anderson as no. 11.
