Dikshit refuses to comment on Kalmadi's remarks

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday refused to join issue with sacked CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi who has favoured bringing all those involved in hosting the event into the ambit of the ongoing CBI probe into the alleged bunglings.

"No comments," Dikshit said when her comment was sought on Kalmadi's remarks on Thursday that Dikshit and two Union Ministers, should be summoned by CBI which is probing the allegations of corruption relating to the mega event.

"All those who were involved in organising the Games must be summoned. Why just go after the Organising Committee," he said when asked if he wanted the Delhi CM as well as former Sports Minister M S Gill and Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy to be summoned by the investigating agencies.

Attacking Dikshit for her statements against the Organising Committee, Kalmadi said, "She said even before the investigations started that all scams are in OC. Does that mean she predetermined all this?"

Immediately after conclusion of the Games in October last year, Dikshit had said the "suspicion" of corruption in the Commonwealth Games was on the Organising Committee headed by Kalmadi.

Dikshit had said the corruption could have taken place in the activities undertaken by the Organising Committee to which the Central government had given loans to the tune of Rs 1,600 crore.

Two of his close aides -- former OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and Director General V K Verma were arrested on Wednesday by the CBI in connection with alleged irregularities in the Rs 107 crore deal inked with a Swiss timing firm.
