The Punjab Assembly elections will be keenly watched this year as the ruling Congress struggles to retain power after a bitter power tussle between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Captain Amarinder Singh that also saw the latter stepping down from the chief minister's post and floating his own party later. Amarinder Singh contested this election in an alliance with the BJP, while the party's former allies, the Akali Dal, fought on its own. This paved way for Charanjit Singh, a Dalit leader, to become the chief minister of Punjab. What exit polls predicted?

Most exit polls have predicted a big victory for Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, while the ruling Congress may finish a distant second in the state. The BJP and allies may not fare well according to the poll surveys. If the results match the exit polls predictions, then it will be the first time that AAP will form the government in Punjab.
