Adnan Sami reacts as Andhra CM mentions ‘Telugu flag’ in tweet about RRR win: 'You mean Indian?'

Adnan Sami slammed Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after he congratulated the RRR team with his tweet talking about ‘Telugu flag.' RRR's track Naatu Naatu won the Best Original Song at 80th Golden Globes.

Singer Adnan Sami took to Twitter to celebrate RRR's historic win at Golden Globes 2023 awards. The SS Rajamouli directorial became the first Asian film to bag the Best Original Song award for the hit song Naatu Naatu. Minutes after Adnan Sami congratulated the film's team, he reacted to Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's congratulatory tweet. CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had tweeted, “The #Telugu flag is flying high! On behalf of all of #AndhraPradesh, I congratulate @mmkeeravaani, @ssrajamouli, @tarak9999, @AlwaysRamCharan and the entire team of @RRRMovie. We are incredibly proud of you! #GoldenGlobes2023.”

Reacting to his tweet, the Lift Kara De singer tweeted, “Telugu flag? You mean INDIAN flag right? We are Indians first & so kindly stop separating yourself from the rest of the country…Especially internationally, we are one country! This ‘separatist’ attitude is highly unhealthy as we saw in 1947!!! Thank you…Jai HIND!”

“If it was written that ‘Telugu Cinema has made all of India Proud’ it would have been correct & it is so true!!!” he also added.

Responding to the singer's words, a user took to the comment and wrote, “Success has many father's, it is indeed Indian pride and also Telugu pride as it was an original song from the Telugu movie industry.” “Telugu Flag Means Telugu pride That's it,” added another one. Someone else also commented, “100 percent agree with Adnan. It's India's win not just south.”

Hours after RRR was declared as the winner in the Best Original Song category, Adnan Sami was among the many celebrities who took to Twitter to congratulate the film's team. His tweet read, “Such a proud moment for all of India!! Brilliant!!! Heartiest Congratulations.”

RRR was nominated in two categories for the Golden Globes Awards. While it won the Best Original Song category, it lost out in the Best Non-English Language Film category, to Argentina, 1985. The historic announcement was made by actor Jenna Ortega, who plays Wednesday Addams on Netflix's web series.

PM Modi wrote in a tweet, “A very special accomplishment! Compliments to @mmkeeravaani, Prem Rakshith, Kaala Bhairava, Chandrabose, @Rahulsipligunj. I also congratulate @ssrajamouli, @tarak9999, @AlwaysRamCharan and the entire team of @RRRMovie. This prestigious honour has made every Indian very proud.
