Raashii Khanna on being part of Yodha: 'I thought only certain people got to be a Dharma heroine'

Actor Raashii Khanna shared her feelings about completing her childhood dream of working on a Dharma Productions film, Yodha, opposite actor Sidharth Malhotra.

Ahead of the release of her second web series Farzi, Raashii Khanna is also opening about her other big project of 2023, the film Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra. The actor is returning to Hindi films after a decade. She first made her film debut as John Abraham's wife in the 2013 thriller Madras Cafe which was directed by Shoojit Sircar. After that, she mostly concentrated her work in the Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam film industries. This year, she is more focused on her Hindi projects after 2022 which featured a slew of feature film releases in Tamil and Telugu. With Yodha, she got to play the part of a typical Hindi film heroine. Directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, Yodha is a mainstream commercial action film. But the actor insists that she has a lot of responsibility for her character in the film. She is not sidelined as a female actor. Yodha will be released on July 7, 2023.

Speaking to Mid-Day, the actor said working on Yodha alongside Sidharth and Disha Pathani on the Dharma Productions film was a childhood dream for her. She shared, “[Initially] I thought only certain people got to be a Dharma heroine. I didn’t think it was easy for people who come from outside to bag such films. So, the fact that I am in this film, opens doors for others."

Last year, Raashii made her OTT debut in Disney+ Hotstar's Rudra: The Edge of Darkness. An adaptation of the British series Luther starring Idris Elba, the Indian version was headlined by actor Ajay Devgn. Raashii starts off the psychological crime thriller as Rudra's antagonist before settling in as a reluctant friend to the detective.

She will also join Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, and Kay Kay Menon in Prime Video's Farzi which is created by filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. The web series, which marks the OTT debuts of Shahid and Vijay, will release on February 10. In it, Shahid plays a con man pursued by Vijay's character who is in law enforcement. The actor recently shared a poster of her character on Monday with the caption, "A con that won't stay hidden under the covers for too long..!"
