Leap Year

, bearing a stark resemblance to Imtiaz Ali’s superhit,

Jab We Met

, are making many rejoice in pride, the director quashes rumours saying he hasn’t even heard of the Shahid-Kareena starrer!

Talking to HT, Anand says, “Is it really being said that Leap Year is based on Jab We Met? I’ve never heard of that movie. If anything, the inspiration for it is a movie called I Know Where I am Going by Michael Powell, made in 1945.” The reports floating around in tabloids and movie portals, also mentioned that Tucker had watched Jab We Met and was inspired to do a film on similar lines, but in a Western setting. Tucker, a two-time BAFTA nominee, however, says he is yet to see a Bollywood film. “Well, I’m half Indian but I’ve never lived in India. I don’t speak the language, but love Indian food. And I haven’t really seen Bollywood films.”

Leap Year

traces the journey of a girl (Amy Adams) who travels from Boston to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend after coming to know of the Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men in a leap year.

When unexpected circumstances (in Ireland) find her on the other side, she seeks the help of a guy (Matthew Goode) to get her across the country. Clarifying further, Tucker says, “It’s a romatic comedy and quite old fashioned. It has all the moves you expect, but with a bit of heart and some unexpected twists.”

The blogosphere and film websites reported the news after reading the synopsis of Leap Year on the blog portal, Universal Film News, that mentions the film is loosely based on Jab We Met.
