Amazon India Fashion Week Day 2: Glamour goes green

Call it the new age fashionista transforming into a savvy recessionista or just being eco-friendly, but Day 2 of the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week held in Pragati Maidan was all about sustainable style.

Sequins moulded from discarded X-ray films in designers David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore's showcase as well as the avant garde collection by designer Amit Aggarwal using plastic straws and old stockings, raised a toast to green fashion.

Caped silhouettes seemed to be a promising trend for autumn/winter 2015-16 with designers Hemant and Nandita, Pallavi Mohan and Samant Chauhan each presenting their take on the snug garment. So, here's a quick dekko at the fashion extravaganza on Day 2.

Crossover neckline: An overlapping, V-shaped neckline gives a regal vibe to your outfit.

The Rajputana Kumari collection inspired by Nepal had intricate zari, dabka and hand embroidery on textured asymmetrical skirts, layered dresses and pleated gowns.

Spider weave: As the name explains, add drama to your sheer blouse neckline with this crochet pattern.

Designer Rina Dhaka showcased outfits with ikat techniques, asymmetrical silhouettes with cutwork, beads - ideal for a lady who loves drama.

*Hemant and Nandita
Serape: A blanket-like shawl can add a boho vibe to any outfit.

Inspired by Kashmir, the duo showcased a collection with folksy prints and vibrant colour palette.

Gingham: An autumnal favourite, this fabric can easily add a touch of casual cool to your winter wardrobe.

Models strutted the runway with Margot Tenenbaum-inspired hairdo in outfits made from sustainable, recycled textiles. The duo's take on sequins made from X-ray films was impressive.

Laser cut cloth: Meticulous, clear cut out patterns are ideal for a whimsical silk dupatta for a stylish winter.

For her label, Not So Serious, the designer presented outfits with laser cut and velvet motifs. We loved the accessorising with beanies and opera gloves.

Asymmetric shirt dress: A sheer shirt with an uneven hemline can jazz up your winter-perfect black pants and jeans.

Titled An Early Frost, capes, high-waisted skirts, lasercut jackets in monochrome were seen at the special preview of their collection.

Blot prints: The Rorschach-esque prints are not only a fun DIY project but can also brighten up your winter outfit.

A juxtaposition of traditional and modern technology, the designer attempted to redefine the present fashion with a futuristic collection made from recycled plastic, stockings and straws.
