Around 11.30am on Wednesday, Parveen Singh Rathore and his wife Anupama were entering Gurgaon when Rathore lost his balance after hitting a speed breaker.

Sisodia in her speeding Chevrolet Cruze, which was right behind them, was allegedly unable to apply brakes on time and crushed the couple to death, the police had said.

The couple was rushed to a private hospital in DLF City Phase 3, where doctors declared them brought dead.

Sisodia told the police that the accident was not her fault as the couple suddenly slipped in front of her car, which was at high speed.

Earlier, Rathore’s family delayed the post-mortem examination as they were demanding compensation from the accused.

The postmortem was later conducted and the bodies were handed over to the family members.

The police booked Sisodia under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code.

The accused, 33, is an executive of a multi-national company and lives in Dwarka, Delhi.

Rathore worked in a glass manufacturing company in Sector 15, while his wife was employed in a private firm at DLF Cyber City. They were residents of Palam Colony in Delhi and are survived by two children.

The police said the case was registered only on Wednesday evening as they took time to contact Rathore’s relatives.

“We arrested the accused on Thursday. We impounded the car and motorbike and have parked it at the DLF City Phase 2 police station. The car had a temporary registration number,” deputy commissioner of police (east) Deepak Saharan said.

When Hindustan Times contacted Sisodia’s husband, Dinesh, he refused to comment and said his laywer would share all details.
