Amid deteriorating law and order situation in Gurgaon, the arrest will boost up the morale of police officials. It will also help provide a sense of security to the residents.

The police have also recovered two stolen bikes, two country-made pistols, live cartridges, several credit and debit cards and a bank passbook from the felonies.

“They are involved in several cases. They used to cheat innocent people and snatch their credit cards and other belongings,” said Rajesh Duggal, DCP (crime).

“The gang members first used to collect information about their victim. Then they visited his place and introduced themselves from the village he comes from,” said the DCP.

The accused have been identified as Vijay, Kamesh, Lalit Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Sanjay Kumar and Sidhiqui Ali. All of them are natives of Bihar and were staying in rented accommodations at different locations in the national capital region, the police said.

“The accused are involved in several cases of assault and snatching. They used to target people at crowded areas such as railway stations, bus stands and markets,” said an officer, adding that the police have launched a manhunt to arrest the other members of the gang.

According to the police, the gang, which was active in Haryana, Delhi and Rajashtan, is divided in four groups. Each group has a different leader.
