Anand Mahindra turns to President Droupadi Murmu for Monday motivation

Droupadi Murmu was sworn in as the country's 15th President in the Central Hall of Parliament by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana.

Business tycoon Anand Mahindra, who is known for his insightful tweets, took to Twitter to share his source of Monday motivation. The 67-year-old industrialist stated that anyone looking for motivation need not look far as President Droupadi Murmu’s incredible courage and willingness to serve are commendable. Murmu took oath as India's first-ever tribal President on Monday.

The Mahindra chief heaped praises on her and said her inner ‘strength’ has helped her to overcome all of life's hardships. Murmu’s life was troubled by multiple personal tragedies, while one of her sons died under mysterious circumstances the other died in a road mishap in 2012. Her husband had too died of cardiac arrest. He said that he salutes her spirit and it is a “moment of intense pride for India”.

"Look no further for your #MondayMotivation. Above all else, she is a person of extraordinary courage and a commitment to serve. Her inner strength has enabled her to withstand all the challenges life has thrown at her. I join in saluting her. A moment of intense pride for India," the Mahindra Group Chairman said in his tweet.

Murmu was sworn in as the country's 15th President in the Central Hall of Parliament by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, members of the council of ministers, governors, chief ministers, heads of diplomatic missions, members of Parliament and civil and military officers.

She was given a 21-gun salute after which she signed the oath register amid thunderous applause and thumping of desks. At the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the new President then inspected the tri-services guard of honour.

In her first address as the President, Murmu said, “I am the first President to have been born in independent India. I come from a small village and in that village even getting primary education is tough. I am the first to get education at this level”.
