A 28-year-old British woman tourist was molested in GT Express train after it left New Delhi station on Friday night.
Four of the accused, from Betul in Madhya Pradesh, were arrested by the railway police at Agra Cantonment station and sent to 14 days judicial custody after being presented in an Agra court on Saturday. The four men were allegedly drunk and they harassed the tourist when they found her alone in the compartment enroute from Delhi.
It is alleged that the coach conductor did not offer to help the woman when she complained to him. However, two railway police personnel were aboard the train who passed on the information to the Agra station where the four were arrested.
‘The woman lodged a complaint at Agra Cantt and a case was registered under section 354 of Indian Penal Code for eve teasing. These four were identified as Waseem, Vijay, Vivekanand and Anand all travelling from Delhi for Betul in Madhya Pradesh,” said Mani Kant, the police officer in-charge at the station when the incident was reported.
