“The joint meeting of members from the Jat, Patel and Maratha communities will be held in Delhi to chalk out a strategy to launch an agitation for reservation in government jobs and educational institutes,” he told PTI over phone.

Jats, Patels and Marathas are at loggerheads with the Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra governments, respectively, over reservations.

Malik accusing the Haryana government of failing to give reservations to Jats, also said they would re-start their agitation on February 18.

He said that their demands include reservation for Jats in government jobs, in admissions to educational institutes and release of community members who are lodged in jails for protesting in the past.

Malik said that on February 18 ‘Balidan Diwas’ (sacrifice day) would be observed in Rohtak and several other places in Haryana, and also in Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

He said that if the Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana does not fulfil its promises by February 18, there would be consequences.

In 2016, violent protests by Jats in Haryana led to the death of 30 people and massive damage to public property.
