“Apart from central security forces, each polling booth will have a micro observer, he said, adding that the election commission has also made arrangements for videography, photography and webcasting at sensitive polling booths.”

A total of 1,987 polling booths have been set up in the Alwar Lok Sabha constituency, 1,925 booths in Ajmer Lok Sabh constituency and 282 booths in Mandgarh assembly constituency.

There are 18.27 lakh registered voters in Alwar, 18.42 lakh voters in Ajmer and 2.31 lakh voters in Mandalgarh.

There are 11 candidates in fray in Alwar, 23 in Ajmer and eight in Mandalgarh.

A mock drill will be conducted at all the booths before the start of polling in the present of the polling agents, Bhagat said

“Electronic voting machines (EVMs) will carry pictures of the candidates along with their names,” he said

“This has been done to ensure there was no confusion if there were two candidates with the same name.”

In Ajmer, candidates and party workers of the two main parties—the BJP and the Congress--remained busy on Sunday making door-to-door contact with voters.

The Ajmer parliamentary constituency comprises Ajmer North, Ajmer South, Kishangarh, Pushkar, Nasirabad, Kekari, Masuda and Dudu assembly segments.

The district administration has made elaborate security arrangements for holding free and fair elections, said district collector and returning officer Gaurav Goyal.

“As many as 131 area and sector magistrates have been appointed to ensure that no violation of code of conduct takes place during polling,” he said.

In Ajmer, 731 booths have been identified as sensitive booths based on the election commission guidelines.

Ajmer superintendent of police Rajendra Singh Chaudhary said 11 additional superintendents of police, 30 deputy superintendents of police and circle inspectors have called in from more than nine neighbouring districts who will oversee security arrangements.

“In addition, 16 companies of paramilitary forces and six companies of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary comprising more than 6,300 personnel, will keep vigil on the polling booths spread across the constituency,” Chaudhary said.

Polling personnel have been provided with necessary equipment and resources and police personnel have been deployed at the respective polling booths, said Alwar district electoral officer Rajan Vishal.

“We have also stationed 25 companies of paramilitary forces at the polling booths apart from home guards and state police personnel so that law and order can be maintained and elections are conducted in a fair and transparent manner,” he said.

“We have identified 499 booths as ‘critical’ and out of these 190 are ‘extremely sensitive’.”

For the first time in the country, 9,223 residents of Alwar who are posted outside the district and serving in armed forces and paramilitary forces, will be able to cast their votes through electronically transmitted postal ballot system, he said.

“As a security measure, 200 km shared border with Haryana has been sealed and 26 check posts have been installed along the interstate border so that unwanted movement of antisocial elements can’t take place.”
