While five stars added further glitter to their glamour in the battle of ballot, the remaining eight were forced to vanish, as their acting talent and popularity failed to work among the electorate.

Kannada cinema hero, Ambareesh, popularly known as "Mandyada Gandu (Macho of Mandya), remained darling of the people of this Cauvery hinterland, as he scored hat-trick in the Lok Sabha elections.

The cop-turned politician, B C Patil, who renounced Khaki uniform to continue his acting career met with a success on his maiden attempt winning the Hirekerur assembly seat on JDS ticket.

Upcoming hero C P Yogeshwar has retained his Chennapatna seat as also Kumar Bangarappa, the son of former Chief Minister S Bangarappa from Sorab assembly constituency, quelling the challenge posed by his younger brother, Madhu Bangarappa, a film producer.

Bangalore city corporator-cum-mini screen artist, N L Narendra Babu, after failing in his first attempt has succeeded in the second, winning the Rajajinagar Assembly seat.

The stars who were unluckly unlike their counterparts are Jayanthi, loosing for the second time in the battle of ballot since 1999 and another popular hero Anantnag, who was humbled by Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna in Chamarajpet.

The Chamarajpet assembly seat witnessed a star war as BJP had fielded noted comedian Mukyamantri Chandru and Anantnag was JDS nominee against Krishna, who had earned the tag of "Congress star".

It is needless to say that Chandru also bite the dust in Chamarajnapet.

Hero-cum-comedian, Jaggesh, who has been popular among younger generations for fun generating dialogue delivery, was forced to bemoan after he was defeated in the assembly election.

Popular Comedian and villian Doddanna, who made debut into politics through Janata Party was humbled in Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency.

Other stars who failed to shine include Sashikumar, who had enterd Lok Sabha in the last election, but failed this time from Chikkaballapur, where Congress heavy weight R L Jalappa won.

Comedian Dwarakish, a house hold name among cine lovers, fell by the way side on this maiden venture in the assembly polls as also Ramakrishna.
