TIGHTENING A screw on junior residents, the KGMU administration on Monday introduced a quarterly appraisal system for them.
This system has two parts. In the first part, the resident would submit his own report on the work he did in three months. In the second part, the head of the concerned department would verify the appraisal, submitted by residents.
In a meeting of all the heads of departments, the appraisal system was given a go-ahead. The meeting also discussed the methods to upgrade the infrastructure on the campus for improving academic activities.
With this continuation of the services of residents could also come under problem. They would become dependant upon their respective heads for their continuation. It was also decided that if three consecutive appraisals of a resident come negative his services could be terminated. Over 300 appraisals would come from different departments for screening. The first set of appraisals would be read personally by the vice-chancellor. The proctorial board has also come up with the ‘photo identity card’ for every hosteller residing on the campus. Separate colour cards have been prepared for different hostels so that any defaulter could be identified by the colour of his card. The Chakraborty hostel residents would get blue cards, Sardar Patel hostel residents would get orange cards, Vijay Laxmi hostel residents would get green cards and the resident hostel residents would get pink photo identity cards. The hostel rooms to the 2002 and 2004 batch students would be allotted on Tuesday.
