Munger Superntendent of Police (SP) M Sunil Nayak said TPC, an extremist outfit opposed to CPI (Maoists), was active in certain areas of Jharkhand. Singh used to supply arms ranging from pistol to light machine guns to extremists in five Jharkhand districts, including Ranchi and Chatra, the SP said.

The SP said that Singh, a resident of Haveli Kharagpur sub-division of Munger district, used to procure illegal arms form Munger and Nagaland. “Four illegal arms manufacturing units were also unearthed on the basis of leads provided by Singh,” he said.

A special branch official from Jharkhand has arrived for interrogating the arrested arms supplier.

The raid was a sequel to a coordinated action plan between the Bihar and Jharkhand police to unravel the inter-state network of arms and ammunition peddlers following continuous seizure of huge quantities of arms and explosives.

The Bihar police have seized about 45 quintals of explosives in naxal-hit Gaya on November 12 and a huge cache of firearms and raw materials, used in making improvised explosive devices (IEDs), in Patna on November 9.

Earlier, nearly 350 kg of ammonium nitrate, copper sulphate and bottles of acid stuffed in gunny bags and plastic containers were recovered from an abandoned truck in Kankerbagh in Patna.
