CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan would launch the Jalabhishek Abhiyan from Neemuch on April 2. The campaign would include Jal Yatra and Jalabhishek Sammelan at village to district levels to promote water conservation.
The Chief Minister has urged the people to support this campaign and work collectively for water storage and conservation. He has asked the public representatives and Self Service Organisations to promote the campaign among masses.
Describing it a social issue, Chauhan in a letter said it could not be tackled without the contribution of the society. He said scarce rains created shortage of water supply in the State but proper storage and conservation could solve the problem to some extent. He announced that a massive and extensive drive would be launched all over the State to save water.
The Jal Yatras and Jalabhishek Abhiyan would be held at district-level from April 6 to 9, at development block-level from April 10 to 13 and at village-level from April 14 to 19.
The public would be educated about ground water conservation and under ground storage of water during the campaign. The structural changes required for saving water and utilising it for agricultural input would be discussed with the people.
The villagers would be trained and then entrusted the work of maintenance of water storage structures. They would be encouraged to conduct such activities themselves at the village-level or block-level.
