The Jacob's Creek party at the Brix, The Grand, on Wednesday night started with a bang but ended in a whimper. To begin with, the sudden appearance of excise officials made sure that the party ended much before the scheduled time with most of the Australian doing the vanishing trick like Cindrella's chariot much before the clock struck 12.

The party started in right earnest though, with fashion designers and models taking to the floor with scintillating music mixed by Mumbai's DJ Megha, but soon she was sent reminders to wind up. But so long as the party lasted it was fun. "I see a lot of difference in the taste for music here. Most people want to listen to remixes but there are some discerning ones too, who prefer classy music," says the DJ who loves to play hip-hop whenever she can.

Designer Rohit Gandhi looked relaxed after his show, and accepted compliments for his fabulous designs graciously. "It's almost like finishing your school exams, I feel so light and tension free, all the hard work of has finally paid off," he says. The only designer to actually showcase a line of proper winter-wear, comprising wool, tweeds and silks, his creations were a visual treat to the eyes with carefully constructed and stylised designs.

Designer Vijay Arora too had a rocking time even though his mind was focussed on his forthcoming show at the LIFW. "I had loads of fun," he says. Seen enjoying the party was Raymond's Gautam Singhania, cricketer Yuvraj, polo player Adhiraj Singh who chose to make an early exit when he saw the crowd. Had he waited he would have realised that the floor emptied out as quickly as it had filled up. Designers Aki Narula, Rocky S and Siddharth Tytler, who walked in with a friend, stayed on for some time while models Sapna Kumar, Bhavna Sharma and Natasha Chopra too had their share of fun.
