Farmers? training on jatropha begins
A TWO-DAY farmers' training programme, organised at the Centre For Social Forestry and Eco-Rehabilitation (CSFER), Allahabad, on 'Research and development of jatropha' began here on Tuesday.
A TWO-DAY farmers' training programme, organised at the Centre For Social Forestry and Eco-Rehabilitation (CSFER), Allahabad, on 'Research and development of jatropha' began here on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the function, Head of CSFER Birendra Choudhary highlighted the significance of jatropha seed oil as bio-diesel and utility of its different parts.
Choudhary also gave information about national network mission of jatropha.
Later, research officer of the centre Dr Anubha Srivastava threw light on nursery and plantation techniques of jatropha cultivation.
Besides, the economic value of jatropha cultivation was also explained before the farmers .
Speaking on the occasion, DR RC Mishra of Allahabad University discussed the usage of Jatropha in agro-forestry.
SRF of National Oil Seed and Vegetable Oil Development (NOVOD) project, Awanindra Tiwari also expressed his views on the occasion. Later, the participants interacted with the scientists and research officers about the relevance and use of jatropha in agro-forestry.
The training programme has been co-ordinated by scientist at the Centre Kumud Dubey. On the second day of the training session, farmers will be taken to Padila nursery near Phaphamau, where they will be made known about the plantation techniques of jatropha.
