Gopal Gandhi to take oath as Bihar governor
Gandhi was given additional charge of Bihar after Buta's resignation following his indictment by the Supreme Court.
West Bengal Governor Gopal Gandhi will take oath as Bihar Governor at a simple function at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.
Gandhi was given additional charge of Bihar after Buta Singh resigned on Republic Day following his indictment by the Supreme Court in the dissolution of the state Assembly case.
Gandhi, accompanied by his wife, arrived from Kolkata by a service flight to a rousing reception in Patna.
State Assembly Speaker Udai Narain Chowdhary, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and a host of his cabinet colleagues including Ramashray Prasad Singh, Ramnath Thakur and Chandra Mohan Rao received them at the Jayprakash Narayan International Airport.
Chief Secretary GS Kang, Director General of Police Ashish Ranjan Sinha and Principal Secretary to Governor RJM Pillai were also present.
Gandhi inspected a guard-of-honour at the airport before driving straight to the historic Gandhi Maidan, where he paid homage to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. He went on to visit to the Gandhi Ghat as well.
He will be sworn in on Tuesday morning by the Chief Justice of Patna High Court JN Bhatt.
