Kafeel's identity not yet identified by father: police

The father of Sabeel and Kafeel Ahmed, detained suspects in the failed UK terror plot, has not yet "admitted" that his second son Kafeel was the driver of the burning vehicle used in the Glasgow attack, police said on Saturday.

Denying media reports that Maqbool Ahmed had "admitted" that the driver of the vehicle was his son Kafeel, Police Commissioner, N Achutha Rao, said he has not revealed any such information to the probe team.

"We have no such information," he said.

According to a senior police official, the father had not been interrogated on Friday since he had been "mentally disturbed" and was not in a position to speak.

Rao said the police team was also yet to establish any link between the UK terror suspects with a radical outfit in Bangalore. "Right now we are in the process of collecting information and analysing it."

"We have not found any incriminating evidence so far," he said, adding that the police would continue with its inquiries on the case.

The Bangalore police was closely working with the Intelligence Bureau and other investigating agencies to collect information on the terror suspects, he said.

As per police sources, the Bangalore police had submitted a report to the Intelligence Bureau on Friday's interrogation and would be briefing the IB on a day-to-day basis.
