LF surges ahead in Bengal

LF surges ahead in WB in 19 out of 26 seats trends while Mamata Banerjee leads in South Kolkata.

The ruling Left Front in West Bengal appears to be surging ahead in establishing leads in 19 out of 26 seats as per current trends.

The Nationalist Trinamool Congress candidates including NTC chief Mamata Banerjee were leading in three seats while Congress candidates were leading in four, which included PCC President Pranab Mukherjee in Jangipur and veteral leader ABA Ghani Khan Choudhury.

Among the LF constituents CPI(M) candidates were ahead in 15 seats while candidates of Forward Bloc were leading in 2 and those of CPI and RSP were ahead in one seat each.

Prominent LF candidates, who established leads in early rounds, were Somnath Chatterjee in Bolpur, Gurudas Dasgupta in Panskura.

Mamata Banerjee, seeking re-election from Calcutta South constituency for the fifth time in a row, was leading over her CPI(M) rival Rabin Deb.

But NTC leader and Kolkata Mayor Subrata Mukherjee was trailing behind CPI(M)'s Sudhangshu Sil in Calcutta North-West seat by nearly 21,000 votes.

NTC candidates Janardhan Saha at Bishnupur and Akbar Ali Khondkar at Serampur were leading against their CPI(M) rivals and Ranjit Panja was leading at Barasat over Forward Bloc candidate.

Mukherjee, contesting Lok Sabha election after a gap of 24 years, was leading over the sitting CPI(M) MP Abul Hasnat Khan in the Jangipur Lok Sabha constituency.

Congress leader Priyaranjan Dasmunshi was trailing against CPI(M)'s Minati Ghosh in Raiganj in North Bengal. CPI(M)'s Nikhilananda Sar was leading by 11,974 over his nearest BJP rival Anindyagopal Mitra in Burdwan seat while in Arambagh Lok Sabha seat, CPI(M)'s Anil Basu was leading by 6,458 votes over BJP's Swapan Kumar Nandi after first rounds of counting.

In Malda constituency, veteran Congress candidate A B A Ghani Khan Chowdhury was leading by 2,931 votes over CPI(M)'s Pranab Das after the first round of counting.

In the Balurghat seat, Ramen Burman (RSP) was leading by 2,421 votes against BJP's Manmohan Roy.

In Coochbehar constituency, Hiten Burman of All-India Forward Bloc was leading by over 1.26 lakh votes against NTC candidate G Burman after the fifth round.
Latest information received from Raiganj said that Congress candidate Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, was still trailing by 2197 votes against CPI(M)'s Minati Ghosh.

On the other hand in Panskura constituency, Gurudas Dasgupta of CPI established a lead of 5,356 votes over Hema Choubey of Nationalist Trinamool Congress after first rounds of counting.

Banerjee had established a lead of nearly 6000 over her CPI(M) rival Rabin Deb after the first round of counting.

NTC candidate Akbar Ali Khondkar also established a slender lead of 969 votes over his nearest CPI(M) rival Santashri Chatterjee in Serampore constituency.

In prestigeous Dum Dum constiuency, Union Minister and BJP leader Tapan Sikdar was trailing by 2,739 votes against CPI(M)'s Amitava Nandy after first round of counting in one of the segments Kamarhati.

In Birbhum (SC) seat, Ram Chandra Dome (CPI-M) was leading by 3,264 votes over his nearest BJP rival Arjun Saha.

In Arambagh Lok Sabha seat, CPI(M)'s Anil Basu was leading by 6,458 votes over BJP's Swapan Kumar Nandi after first rounds of counting.

In Panskura constituency, Gurudas Dasgupta of CPI established a lead of 5,356 votes over Hema Choubey of Nationalist Trinamool Congress after first rounds of counting.

In the Darjeeling seat, Congress candidate Dawa Narbula was leading by over 20,000 votes over his nearest CPI(M) rival Moni Thapa as per latest trends available.

In Nabadwip (SC) Constituency, CPI(M) candidate Alakesh Das was leading by about 1,500 votes over NTC rival Nilima Nag. In Alipurduar (ST) seat, Joachim Baxla of RSP was leading by 7,495 votes against Congress' Ratan Lal Baraik.

In Jalpaiguri constituency, CPI(M)'s Minati Sen was leading by 11,880 votes over her nearest NTC candidate Paras Dutta after the first round.

As per latest information available, Sudhangshu Sil of CPI(M) established a lead of 21,000 votes over NTC candidate and city Mayor Subrata Mukherjee in the prestigeous Calcutta (north-west) constituency after the second round of counting.
