Situation improves; curfew relaxed in Manipur

Indefinite curfew was relaxed in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas following improvement in law and order situation.

The indefinite curfew was on Tuesday relaxed from 4 am to 9 pm in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas of Imphal east and Imhal west districts of Manipur following improvement in law and order situation, official sources said.

Sources said curfew was also relaxed from 5 am to 8 pm in Thoubal and Bishenpur districts.

Sources said the situation arising out of the stir for removal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act was returning to normal with the arrest of more than 60 agitation leaders. Of the 60, about 30 had been placed under National Security Act.
