State staff boycott work

EMPLOYEES OF different State government departments resorted to half-day work boycott on Tuesday in support of their demands. Work boycott will continue on Wednesday also. The call for the boycott was given by the State Employees? Joint Council of Uttar Pradesh. The council warned the State government that if it did not accede to its 18-point demands, it would be forced to resort to pen-down strike.

The call for the boycott was given by the State Employees’ Joint Council of Uttar Pradesh. The council warned the State government that if it did not accede to its 18-point demands, it would be forced to resort to pen-down strike.

According to a press release issued by Hanuman Prasad Srivastava, president of the council’s Allahabad unit here on Tuesday, as the two-day strike was symbolic, essential services and public-related works had not been affected by the boycott. Srivastava said a council team visited different State government offices on Tuesday and ensured the success of the strike.  The State staff are demanding all benefits following merger of 50 per cent DA with salary since January 1, 1996, payment of house rent allowance in B-1 category to employees in Allahabad, trade tax concession on two-wheelers, restoration of leave encashment facility and disposal of cases relating to employment on compassionate grounds.

Notice for strike: Central Government employees organisations will, on Wednesday, serve notice for strike to be observed on December 14 to the respective departmental heads here. The strike call was given by the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, New Delhi.
