Two militants shot businessman Jayanta Dey at point blank range as he was entering his home at Nahorsapori late last night.

The rebels had earlier made an extortion demand to Dey but he had not paid the money, police said.

Senior police officials rushed to the area to supervise a search operation for the attackers who escaped under the cover of darkness.
