DID THE Housing and Environment Department order probe against voluntary organisation ‘Prayatna’ on the basis of a forged letter? The answer seems to be yes.
MLA Naresh Diwakar, who lodged a ‘written complaint’ against the NGO prompting the probe, has not only denied having ever written any such letter but has also lodged a complaint of fraud with the DGP.
Stating that his old letterhead was misused in the matter, the MLA has written to the Director General of Police and the Principal Secretary of the Housing and Environment to conduct enquiry into the matter.
Diwakar told the Hindustan Times that it seems someone had misused the photocopy of his old letterhead (during his first term as MLA).
He said he did not even know the existence of the NGO ‘Prayatna’ that has been named in the complaint purportedly lodged by him.
Diwakar said that he would be bringing the matter to the notice of the Assembly Speaker and ask for detailed enquiry into the misuse.
An enquiry for ‘financial irregularities’ was initiated against NGO Prayatna on the basis of the alleged complaint made by the Seoni MLA.
The complaint was dated December 27, a day after news regarding a PIL filed by Prayatna against the appointment of member-secretary of the MP Pollution Control Board appeared. The enquiry was initiated immediately by the Housing the Environment Department.
In a press conference today, Prayatna secretary Ajay Dubey demanded that a high-level enquiry be conducted into the misuse of the MLA’s letterhead and into the ‘targeting’ of Prayatna by some elements following the PIL.
