Women outnumbered men voters in eight of the 147 assembly constituencies in Orissa during the two phase elections held on April 20 and 26 last, said official sources.

The constituencies are Chikiti, Nabarangpur, Soro, Simulia, Dhamnagar, Basudevpur, Binjharpur(SC) and Pattamundai (SC), the sources said.

Altogether 1,69,51,750 out of 2,56,52,789 voters in the state had exercised their franchise for the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, held simultaneously after a gap of 33 years, this time.
Of them, 90,19,403 were male and 79,32,347 female, the sources said.
Besides, of the total number of 1,69,51,750 voters who cast their ballots, 1,02,88,983 had produced their photo identity cards during the voting, they said.
