The party said on Sunday that the Supreme Court had acquitted Amit Shah in an alleged murder case in 2014.

“The charge against Amit Shah was false and was dismissed by the Supreme Court in 2014. But Rahul Gandhi deliberately misled people through his false accusations at a political rally. He has violated the model code of conduct,” BJP chief spokesperson Dr. Ashok Sinha told the reporters.

The complaint was filed with the Election Commission late on Saturday evening.

He further added the Congress president’s claim that his party would form a government in Tripura immediately after it comes to power in the Centre, sounded like a conspiracy.

State Congress president Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman said, “BJP is free to file as many complaints. We, too, filed a complaint against chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb’s speech with Election Commission. But Rahul Gandhi didn’t threaten anyone.”

Later, referring to Gandhi’s speech where he said Anil Ambani accompanied Prime Minister Narendra Modi to France during Rafale aircraft purchase deal, Sinha said the statement was false.

“The statement made by Rahul Gandhi that Rafale deal was finalised during UPA regime was not true,” said Sinha.

The BJP also complained against Gandhi’s claim that Anil Ambani was paid Rs 30,000 crores in the Rafale deal and that Narendra Modi had forced the French president to include Ambani in the deal. To which the Congress leader Kishore Deb Burman said, “It seems that BJP is advocating for Anil Ambani.”
