Lucknow: Two held for using fake smart cards of army canteen
Cops arrested two persons from Cantonment area for using fake smart cards of the army canteen which they used for purchasing goods and thereafter sold them at market price in open market.
Cops arrested two persons on Sunday from Cantonment area for using fake smart cards of the army canteen which they used for purchasing goods and thereafter sold them at market price in open market.
Cops recovered four fake dependent cards and six fake smart cards of the army canteen from the two accused.
Those arrested have been identified as Anurag Singh and Anil, both residents of Nawabganj, Kanpur.
According to reports, the Cantonment police got information about two persons using fake cards of dependents of army personnel and fake smart cards of army canteen for purchasing goods.
Following the input, the Cantonment police on Sunday arrested the two accused from Cantonment area.
“Both the accused were using fake dependent cards of army personnel and were also using fake smart cards of the army canteen. They used to purchase large quantity of goods from the army canteen and thereafter sell them in open market,” said Parshuram Tripathi, station house office, Cantonment police station.
It may be pointed out that goods are available at very cheap rates in army canteen. These products are for defence personnel, their family members and their dependents only.
Dependents of army personnel are issued a dependent card to verify their status. It is after showing this dependent card that one is allowed to enter the canteen.
For the past several months the two accused were active and selling goods purchased from army canteen in open market.
