The body of an unidentified woman was found at the Hero Honda crossing in Greater Noida on Friday morning.
The police said the body appeared to be that of a woman aged around 20 and had no injury marks. It was first seen by a farmer who informed the police.
“A farmer was going to his field in the morning when he saw the body at the Hero Honda intersection. He informed the police. The body was taken to a nearby private hospital. A post-mortem examination has been conducted and the report is awaited,” said Sanjay Singh superintendent of police (SP) (rural), Greater Noida.
Police said the woman was wearing black clothes.
Police said locals told them that a car had stopped near the crossing around 10.30pm on Thursday.
“We have inspected the CCTV footage from a camera installed near the spot. In the footage, we saw a car stopping at the spot where the body was found. But the footage is not clear and the occupants of the car are not clearly visible. We have asked for more footage,” a police officer said.
The police said they contacted parents of all women who have gone missing from the area in the past few months.
“Several of them came for identification, but nobody could recognise the body. We are trying to identify her,” the officer said.
From January to October this year, as many as 12 bodies have been found in Greater Noida and none of them have been identified so far.
“We are trying our best to identify these 12 people,” the officer said.
