Pune’s Roseland society wins the National Swachh Bharat Award

There are 1,000 families, 3,500 people of all ages living in 35 buildings of this society and each one of them is a contributor to, and believer in, the eco-friendly lifestyle.

Pune Roseland Society in Pimple Saudagar is the first society the Pimpri-Chinchwad area to win the National Swachh Bharat Award 2017, under the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) category. This award will be handed over to society members on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 2017) at a function in New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This society was built in 2007 and residents began living there from 2008 onwards, with the society being formed in the same year.

There are 1,000 families, 3,500 people of all ages living in 35 buildings of this society and each one of them is a contributor to, and believer in, the eco-friendly lifestyle. 

The society has won the award for innovative sustained techniques in plastic collection, e- waste management, wet and dry garbage segregation, leaf composting, awareness campaigns, composting at source, recycling drainage water and even sparrow conservation. 

“We believe in being socially responsible and in the idea of having a society which is energy efficient, as well as green. We have planted 3,200 saplings within our society and also help make Pimple Saudagar green by planting in the area,” said Santosh Maskar , chairman, Roseland Society. 

“Each and every resident has played a part in getting this award and I must mention Siddharth Naik, treasurer, who is the best waste management facilitator.” 

“We are proud and delighted with this announcement and excited to be voted in for our innovative ideas and best practices,” said Maskar.
