Badal, who was speaking on the sidelines of the second day of the mega health camp organised in Badal village here, said the state government will provide financial support to the SAARC Surgical Care Society in this regard.

Stating that the government will soon provide land for the purpose, Badal said Amritsar was selected for the hospital as a good air connectivity of the city will pave way for hassle-free movement of both patients and doctors from different parts of the world.

He also expressed hope that renowned medicos from SAARC countries will offer their services at this hospital, which aims to provide cheap and quality treatment to the needy. Badal also called for setting up of such hospitals in all SAARC countries.

With various world-class doctors working under one roof, the hospital will also help medicos enhance their skills through mutual exchange of ideas, he said. Encouraged with an overwhelming response received by the mega health camp, the state government will replicate the scheme to other districts, especially in the border districts and those in Kandi sub-mountainous region, Badal said.

The chief minister said proper record of the patients registered in the health camp will be maintained and these who have been referred for further diagnose and treatment will be provided the required financial help.

He also said the sate government was making efforts to rope in globally renowned doctors for such camps. Badal said for providing world class healthcare facilities to the people, a Rs 350-crore project has been initiated to upgrade infrastructure in government hospitals.
