Despite 10 dengue cases being confirmed in city so far, residents have failed to take precautions.
The health department carried out checks in various areas of the city and found larvae of Aedes aegypti mosquito, the vector that transmits the dengue virus, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The dengue larvae were found in coolers in the areas of Dashmesh Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, near Cheema Chowk on Wednesday; and Arjun Nagar, Saraswati Devi Nagar and Atam Nagar on Tuesday.
Information regarding the violators had been passed on the municipal corporation to issue challans. Dr Gurmeet Singh, officiating district epidemiologist who supervised the drive, said, "Checking of coolers and containers was conducted in houses as this mosquito breeds in clean water. The team destroyed the larva found in houses on the spot and information regarding this has been passed on to the MC to issue challans to the violators."
