Theft at judge’s house in Jalandhar, gold ornaments stolen
In a major embarrassment for the city police, unidentified persons stole gold jewellery, a digital camera and Rs 3,000 cash from the house of judicial magistrate (first class) Arun Gupta in Rajinder Nagar near Police Lines in Jalandhar on Wednesday.

The judge along with his wife and son had gone to attend a function outside the city around 4.30pm and came back at 7.30pm. When the couple arrived back at the house, they were shocked to find the house ransacked.
After getting information, senior police officials, including the additional deputy commissioner of police J Elanchezhian, assistant commissioner of police (investigation) Harjinder Singh, SHO of Baradari police station Bhushan Sekhri rushed to the spot along with forensic experts.
J Elanchezhian said that a case has been registered against unknown persons at Baradari police station and investigation has been launched to nab the accused.
The Rajinder Nagar locality is situated adjacent to the Police Lines. The incident has put the city police in dock.
