Todywala Auctions will put on display a large collection of over 360 rare artifacts. It includes silver and gold coins from the Mughal Era, a 2,500- year-old silver punched mark coin from the Maghada Janapada, 1,700-year-old gold coins from the Gupta and Kushana Empires eras.

Also on show will be gold mohurs and silver rupees from the time of the Raj that will be going under the hammer at the event. The opening bid starts from Rs 1400 and goes upto Rs 55,000 for silver coins and Rs 5,000 to 12,000 for gold coins.

Says Malcolm Todywalla, “We provide a platform where people owning vintage jewellery and rare currency can get in touch with sellers who further auction in events like this. Running for over 40 years and holding exhibitions-cum-auctions all over India, we have developed goodwill amongst people who trust us.”

He further adds, “This year from the paper money section, we are auctioning the British Oriental Banknote of the 1840s, which is expected to fetch anything between Rs 6 to 8 lakh. The response in Mumbai is always better than the other cities,” Todywalla insists.

The auction will take place on April 23, from 6 pm onwards, at the World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade. This will be accompanied by a coin show from 22nd - 24th April, at the same venue. Entry for both shows is free.
