According to police, Rizwan was sitting at his shop along with two persons — Bilal and Saleem, who also works at the shop. About 4pm, Vicky came along with his two accomplices and opened fire at Rizwan and fled. The victim has sustained a bullet on his left thigh. He was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition is reported to be stable.

On getting information, senior police officers, including superintendent of police (SP) North, Arvind Saxena, rushed to the spot. A case was registered against Vicky and two others after preliminary investigation.

Police teams have been fanned out across the city to nab the accused. The teams were also carrying out raids at every possible hideout of the accused. However, police remained clueless till filing of this report.

Rizwan said he could only identify Vicky. "I was busy in work. Meanwhile, he came and fired three gunshots at me," Rizwan told media persons at the hospital. According to preliminary investigation, only one gunshot was fired, said city superintendent of police, Gopal Singh Dhakad.

Vicky, who hails from Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh, has been living in the state capital for few years. He is a notorious criminal of the city. Police sources said Vicky used to run a pan kiosk at Jawhar Chowk, about two years ago. He had disputes with Rizwan and was beaten up by the latter and his friends.

On Monday, he had gone to Rizwan's shop to settle scores, but when he saw two persons present at the spot, he fired at him and fled, said police sources.
