Infra will be developed to make Bhopal green, smart city: Chouhan

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that necessary infrastructure will be developed to make Bhopal a global-level green and smart city. The CM was speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a project.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Wednesday that necessary infrastructure will be developed to make Bhopal a global-level green and smart city. "Special efforts will be made with people's participation to make the city plastic and polythene-free," Chouhan added.

The CM was speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a railway over-bridge (ROB) at Singarcholi railway crossing under Bhopal-Biaora Road Project.

Chouhan said the over-bridge should be completed within a year adding that the Bhopal-Biaora Road will be converted to four-lane from Lal Ghati up to airport trisection. Also, traffic pressure will ease between Bhopal city and airport after construction of Singarcholi over-bridge, a statement from the government said.

Speaking at the function, the public works department (PWD) minister Sartaj Singh said Madhya Pradesh has transformed and development is visible everywhere in the state and Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation has carved a national identity.

Principal secretary Public Works Department (PWD) Pramod Agrawal gave details of the Bhopal-Biaora Road Project. Technical education minister Umashankar Gupta, panchayats and rural development minister Gopal Bhargava, member of parliment (MP) Alok Sanjar, MLAs Vishnu Khatri and Vishwas Sarang and others were present.

Key project

Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation is widening and strengthening 105.6 km-long stretch of Bhopal-Biaora Road (National Highway-12) in build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode.

The project will be completed in two years. Seven under-passes, grade-separators, one railway over-bridge, 10 medium bridges and 74 culverts will be constructed under the project to ensure smooth traffic on the road.
