MP: Man accused of raping minor as her 2-year-old brother bangs on door
Police nabbed Akash Yadav before the angered villagers could hunt him down, and charged him under Section 376 of the IPC (rape) as well as relevant provisions of the POCSO Act.
A man has been accused of abducting and raping a minor as the girl’s two-year-old brother banged at his door in a village near Jabalpur city on Tuesday.
Akash Yadav, 18, was arrested in Padria village as angry residents searched for him. Police said a four-year-old girl and her brother were playing outside their home when their parents were out at work and their grandmother was doing household chores.
The grandmother noticed that the girl was missing and her brother was banging at Yadav’s door. The woman too began knocking at Yadav’s door, but he allegedly told her that her granddaughter was not in his house.
The woman was not convinced and kept a watch on Yadav’s house. She soon saw the girl exiting in tears and Akash slipping out in tow, it’s alleged.
The girl told her family Yadav had assaulted her. Police have charged Yadav under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code which deals with rape and rules of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
